How To Clean A Greasy Stove Top
The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in any home and the stovetop can be one of the dirtiest places. Before your blood starts to boil thinking about cleaning, simmer down. No matter what kind of stovetop you have, you can keep it clean by following these easy steps.
1. Turn Off The Stove.
It’s very important to make sure the stove is completely off and cool to the touch before you start cleaning. A greasy stovetop is an inconvenience, but a trip to the emergency room is an ordeal.
2. Lather Up.
For best results, use Dawn®. Apply a squirt of Dawn into a bowl of warm water, then dip the sponge in. Squeeze the sponge until suds form. The cleaning agents in Dawn absorb grease just as well on kitchen surfaces as they do on dishes.
3. Wipe Out.
Test on inconspicuous area first. If safe, then proceed to full-fledged scrubbing. Scrub the greasy surface back and forth following the grain, if applicable, until the soil is removed. Dawn locks away grease so that it is not re-deposited as you clean the rest of the surface.
4. Tough It Out.
For stubborn stains, apply Dawn directly to the soft side of a sponge and scrub until the grease is removed.
5. Rinse Away.
Wipe down the stove and remove the remaining grease and excess soap with a damp paper towel. Excess residue may lead to etching on certain materials.
6. Time To Dry.
Immediately dry the surface with a clean paper towel. Excess residue may lead to etching on certain materials. Great job. Your stovetop is back in tip-top shape.
